- Plastic bottles — Pop, squash, milk, toiletries, cleaners
- Plastic pots, tubs and trays — Margarine tubs, yoghurt pots, punnets
Metals
- Drinks cans and food tins — Including pet food tins
- Aerosols
Glass
- Glass bottles and jars — In the caddy on top — no window glass
Not accepted
- Black plastic items — Not recyclable — use the green bin
- Plastic film — Cling film, crisp and biscuit wrappers
- Hard plastics — Toys, kitchenware, CD and DVD cases
- Polystyrene — Not recyclable — use the green bin
- Window glass and Pyrex — Not accepted in the glass caddy
- Textiles — No clothing or beddingInstead: Use a textile bank or charity shop
- Food waste — Goes in the green household bin
Common mistakes
- Batteries — Fire risk — use shop battery bins or a recycling centre
- Electrical items — Small electricals go to a recycling centre
- Shredded paper→ goes in Recycling — Accepted, but bag it first — no black bags
- Glass→ goes in Recycling — Goes in the caddy on top, not the main bin
