SEPARATE

Separate to Recycle

Recycling bin

Pull apart the different materials and recycle each one separately.

Which bin?

Separate the materials by hand, then recycle each part according to its label or material type.

What does it mean?

Some products have packaging made from multiple materials bonded together — like a cardboard box with a plastic window, or a card sleeve around a plastic tray. When you see "Separate to Recycle" (sometimes with material codes like PAP 21 and PP 5), it means you need to pull the components apart before recycling. Each material may have a different bin destination. If you can't separate them by hand, they usually go in general waste because mixed materials contaminate recycling streams.
